// Day One
A year and a half on from our elopement in Iceland, I'm finally sitting down to create a wedding album. I'm sure I'm not alone here, life is pretty noisy sometimes and whittling down hundreds of photos to your absolute favourites to share in a book is harder than I thought it would be.
In this 4 part mini series, I'm sharing the 3 days surrounding our wedding and then some of the highlights from our honeymoon.
It was a spontaneous decision to get married in Iceland. We'd spent years putting off a wedding until we felt like we could justify the spend. One night back in 2016, I came home from a night out with friends and said, "Let's just elope, we could do it next year". Travelling is a shared passion and as soon as I'd said it out loud, it felt perfect.
The first thing I looked into was photography and film. I saw this blog post on Green Wedding Shoes and immediately fell in love with the cinematic style of Iris and Light from LA. After a few emails back and forth with Ryan, we settled on May 15th 2017 for our wedding with a day either side to shoot some more images.
Day One was shot at an incredible rock formation called Hvítserkur in North West Iceland. The weather in Iceland is always changeable but after some pretty heavy rain that morning and a half hour drive along a dirt track, we arrived to moody sunshine and the tide almost out.
